Problems of recycling
A number of drawbacks exist in the process of recycling of waste. Most importantly drawbacks exist in the method of collection of waste, which is an integral part of the process of recycling. A thorough check needs to be performed before a recycling program is undertaken. A full life cycle analysis of a recycling plant before the program goes underway helps to reduce the risks of hazards faced by the environment. Harmful consequences to the environment can be prevented in this way. Battery disposal should be done properly for proper recycling. But battery disposal cannot be efficiently done if the method of collection of battery recycling is not a proper one. Disposal of batteries by burying them under the soil is a technique which was followed in the past. But now it has been shown that burying batteries under the soil can cause a number of detrimental changes like altering the structure of the soil, reducing the nutrient content and even making the soil completely unfit for cultivation.
